Govt permits to import 49,000 tonnes boiled rice
In a recent development, the government has granted permission to 30 organizations and individuals for the import of 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice (excluding aromatic rice) and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice. The Ministry of Food issued a circular on Thursday, stipulating that the imported rice must be marketed in Bangladesh by April 25th. Additionally, importers are mandated to sell the rice in its original imported sacks, prohibiting any repackaging under organizational names.
The government has allowed 30 organisations and individuals to import 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice (except aromatic rice) and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice into the country.
The Ministry of Food issued a circular in this regard on Thursday.
According to the circular, the importers have to market the rice in Bangladesh by 25 April.
The imported rice cannot be repackaged in the name of the organisations rather must be sold in imported sacks, it added.
