Govt permits to import 49,000 tonnes boiled rice
The government authorizes 30 entities to import 49,000 tons of boiled rice and 34,000 tons of atap rice. The Ministry of Food’s circular stipulates marketing in Bangladesh by April 25. Importers are barred from rebranding the rice; it must be sold in original sacks. This move aims to alleviate rice shortages and stabilize prices amid concerns over food security and market dynamics.
The government has allowed 30 organisations and individuals to import 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice (except aromatic rice) and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice into the country.
The Ministry of Food issued a circular in this regard on Thursday.
