Govt permits to import 49,000 tonnes boiled rice
The Ministry of Food in Bangladesh has authorized 30 organizations and individuals to import 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice. A circular mandates marketing by April 25, with imported sacks to be used for sales, prohibiting repackaging under organizational names. This measure aims to regulate rice imports, ensuring adherence to specified quantities and distribution guidelines within the country.
The government has allowed 30 organisations and individuals to import 49,000 tonnes of boiled rice (except aromatic rice) and 34,000 tonnes of atap rice into the country.
The Ministry of Food issued a circular in this regard on Thursday.
According to the circular, the importers have to market the rice in Bangladesh by 25 April.
The imported rice cannot be repackaged in the name of the organisations rather must be sold in imported sacks, it added.
