Grain exports from Canada have decreased by 6% this season

Canada exported 9.3 million tonnes of grains, pulses, and oilseeds in the first ten weeks of the 2025–26 season, down 6% year-on-year, according to the Canadian Grain Commission. Canola exports dropped 58%, while wheat and barley rose 19% and 84%, respectively. USDA projects lower full-season wheat and canola exports versus last year.

During the ten weeks of the current season, which began on August 1, 2025, Canada exported 9.3 million tonnes of grains, pulses, and oilseeds, down 6% from the same period last season, according to Grain Online, citing the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC).

Canola exports fell to 1,079,400 tonnes (-58% compared to the same period last season), while peas fell to 762,000 tonnes (-12%).

Bread wheat exports increased to 4,756,500 tonnes (+19%), durum wheat to 736,600 tonnes (+11%), barley to 906,100 tonnes (+84%), and lentils to 326,300 tonnes (+28%).

For the full season, USDA forecasts Canada could export 27.0 million tonnes of wheat (29.281 million tonnes last season), 2.1 million tonnes (2.1 million tonnes) of barley and 6.7 million tonnes (9.335 million tonnes) of canola.
