Grass fire hits Negros sugarcane field

Fire Officer 1 Alfonso de Los Sañez, Isabela Municipal Fire Station arson investigator, said the fire broke out around 5:10 p.m.
It was raised to second alarm as firefighters ensured that the blaze would not reach the residential area in neighboring barangays, Sañez said.
Sañez said the blaze was probably caused by a cigarette butt. “It’s still under investigation,” he added.
No residential houses or establishments were affected by the fire.
Fire out was declared at 9:40 p.m., according to Sañez, but damage to property was placed at P100,000.
The Isabela Municipal Fire Station assured the people of their continuing commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
