GreenH Electrolysis Unveils 1 MW PEM Electrolyser in Haryana for India’s First Hydrogen Train

GreenH Electrolysis, a joint venture between H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies and GR Promoter Group, has inaugurated a 1 MW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser at its Jhajjar facility in Haryana. This electrolyser will support India’s first hydrogen-powered train under the “Hydrogen for Heritage” initiative by Indian Railways, producing 430 kg of hydrogen daily. The project highlights GreenH’s commitment to India’s energy transition and green hydrogen goals.

GreenH Electrolysis, a joint venture between H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies and GR Promoter Group, has inaugurated its first 1 MW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser at its manufacturing facility in Jhajjar, Haryana. The milestone event saw the attendance of key industry figures, including Mr. Vinod Agarwal, Chairman and Wholetime Director of GR Infraprojects Ltd., Mr. Anselmo Andrade, CEO and Founding Partner of H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies, and Mr. Romen Rawat, Chief Project Manager/Hydrogen Trainset, Indian Railways.

The 1 MW PEM electrolyser will be installed at the hydrogen production and refueling station in Jind, Haryana, supporting India’s first hydrogen-powered train under the Indian Railways’ “Hydrogen for Heritage” initiative. The electrolyser is set to operate continuously, producing around 430 kg of hydrogen per day at a delivery pressure of 40 bar (g), meeting ISO 14687 standards for Fuel Cell applications. The Jind station will also feature a 3,000 kg hydrogen storage unit, a hydrogen compressor, and two dispensers with pre-cooler integration, enabling efficient refueling.

Mr. Dhiman Roy, CEO and Director of GreenH Electrolysis Pvt. Ltd., expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “The launch of our first 1 MW PEM electrolyser is a pivotal moment in our growth. It highlights our dedication to India’s Make in India initiatives and the country’s energy transition goals. With the backing of GR Promoter Group and H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies, we are poised to contribute significantly to India’s green hydrogen ambitions.”

Mr. Anselmo Andrade of H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies congratulated the GreenH team, emphasizing the importance of the project for India’s renewable hydrogen sector. He affirmed the company’s commitment to advancing its partnership with GreenH to meet the increasing demand for sustainable energy.

Mr. Ashwin Agarwal, Director of GR Promoter Group, highlighted the electrolyser’s role in India’s energy transition, noting its significance in the “Hydrogen for Heritage” project and the wider green hydrogen sector’s progress.

The recent policy support from the Indian government has fueled innovation and investment in green hydrogen, positioning the sector as a key player in decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries and achieving national energy goals.
