Haryana contributed 332.89 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of wheat to the Central foodgrains stock during the Rabi Marketing Season in the last five years, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Responding to a question by MP Kumari Selja, the minister shared data on wheat procurement from Haryana over the past five years which show fluctuating contributions: 84.93 LMT in 2021-22, 41.86 LMT in 2022-23, 63.17 LMT in 2023-24, 71.50 LMT in 2024-25, and 71.43 LMT this year so far.
On the issue of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer supply, Bambhaniya clarified that while the Department of Fertilizers under the Union Government allocates DAP based on projections made by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (DA&FW), the State Government is responsible for distribution within the state.
For the ongoing Kharif 2025 season, the DAP requirement for Haryana was assessed at 2.83 LMT, and the Centre assured that availability has remained adequate from April 1 to July 30, 2025.
As per official data, DAP availability in Haryana during this period stood at 1.59 LMT, with 1.26 LMT sold via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) platform, and a closing stock of 0.33 LMT as on July 30. The minister said the supply was in line with the pro-rata requirement of 1.57 LMT for the same period.
