Hasanpur: Farmers demand early crushing season, higher cane prices

In Hasanpur, Amroha (UP), sugarcane farmers, led by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Asli), demanded the early start of sugar mill operations to clear fields for wheat sowing. They also called for a sugarcane price of ₹450 per quintal. During the meeting, farmers raised concerns about stray animals damaging crops and faulty electricity meter readings, urging timely solutions from authorities.

Hasanpur, Amroha (UP): Sugarcane farmers have demanded early commencement of crushing operations at the sugar mill. The demand was made at the meeting of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Asli) held on Friday at the Mandi Committee. This would help them to clear fields in time for wheat sowing without delay. Additionally, farmers called for the sugarcane price to be set at ₹450 per quintal, reported Amar Ujala.

During the meeting, Tehsil President Chaudhary Samarpal Singh highlighted the persistent issue of stray animals, stating that despite the presence of several gaushalas (cow shelters), stray animals continue to roam fields and residential areas, damaging crops. Mandal General Secretary Param Singh Chaudhary raised concerns about faulty readings from electricity meters installed by the power department, urging immediate correction.

The meeting was presided over by Chetram Singh and was attended by several notable figures, including Govardhan Singh, Sukhiraj Chauhan, Dilpukar, Kamal Bhagatji, Alimuddin Saifi, and Ramesh Chandra.
