IGC slightly raises global wheat production forecast

The International Grains Council (IGC) has revised its 2025–26 world wheat production forecast upward by 2 million tonnes to 808 million tonnes. Wheat consumption is projected at 814 million tonnes, outpacing production. Carry-over stocks are estimated at 264 million tonnes. The total global grain harvest for 2025–26 is seen at 2.377 billion tonnes, including 1.276 billion tonnes of corn.

The International Grains Council (IGC) has slightly raised its forecast for world wheat production in 2025-26, by 2 million tonnes compared to the May estimate, to 808 million tonnes. The forecast for 2024-25 is 799 million tonnes.

Wheat consumption in 2025-26 is estimated at 814 million tonnes, in the 2024-25 season – 802 million tonnes. Carry-over stocks are 264 million and 262 million tonnes, respectively.

The total grain harvest (wheat and feed grains) in the 2025-26 season is estimated at 2.377 billion tonnes, including 1.276 billion tonnes of corn.
