Import‑permit delays force Indonesian sugar refineries to stop production

At least two major Indonesian sugar refineries have halted operations due to delays in government import permits for raw sugar. Slow approvals for 2026 licences have disrupted supplies in a market heavily reliant on imports, impacting refined sugar production for the food and beverage industry.
