India Hydrogen Alliance expands with six new members including Jindal, HPCL-Mittal
The India Hydrogen Alliance (IH2A) has expanded its coalition to 26 members by welcoming six new companies, including Sumitomo Corporation India and Worley Ltd. This growth follows the submission of significant reports to the Indian government regarding the economic viability of green hydrogen. IH2A aims to collaborate with state governments on large-scale hydrogen projects, with new members expected to contribute valuable expertise to the hydrogen ecosystem, supporting the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
The India Hydrogen Alliance (IH2A) has welcomed six new members: Sumitomo Corporation India, Worley Ltd, Jindal Renewable Power, HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd (HMEL), law firm Trilegal, and Cochin Shipyard Ltd. This expansion enhances IH2A’s coalition to 26 members, comprising 16 industry leaders and 10 partner organisations committed to advancing the hydrogen value chain in collaboration with government agencies.
This development follows the submission of the $5 billion National Green Hydrogen Hub Economic Viability and Development Plan and the $50 billion Hydrogen Equipment and Exports Potential Report to the Indian government. IH2A is actively partnering with state governments to launch large-scale green hydrogen projects in the private sector.
Deepu Surendran, Chief General Manager of Cochin Shipyard, emphasised the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to explore emission-free transport solutions, citing the recent launch of India’s first indigenous hydrogen fuel cell catamaran ferry.
Amrit Singh Deo, IH2A Secretariat lead, noted that the new members’ specialised expertise will play a crucial role in shaping the hydrogen ecosystem and achieving the goals of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The new members will collaborate with the IH2A Steering Group and Secretariat, managed by FTI Consulting.
