“No more imports this year. Let alone this year, we might not import next year,” Zulkifli said. Indonesia had previously said it would not import rice this year. The country’s statistics bureau estimated rice output in the January to June period will reach 18.76 million tons, up 11.2% from the same period last year. Indonesia’s Agriculture Ministry said that domestic rice procurement had reached 2.35 million tons by May 27, against this year’s target of 3 million tons.
