Indonesia to harvest 9% more corn

Indonesia’s BPS projects a sharp rise in corn output for 2025, with Nov 2025–Jan 2026 harvested area up 20.9% to 0.62 million ha and production up 19% to 3.93 million tonnes. Despite October’s dip, total 2025 harvest is forecast at 16.5 million tonnes, nearly 9% higher than last year.

BPS forecasts expansion of harvesting area and a nearly 9% increase in gross harvest in 2025.

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) expects a significant increase in corn harvesting area between November 2025 and January 2026. The agency forecasts harvested area to reach 0.62 million hectares, a 20.91% increase compared to the same period last year.

Deputy Director of the Service Distribution and Statistics Department, Puji Ismartini, reported that potential dry corn production (14% moisture) is estimated at 3.93 million tonnes, an increase of 18.96%.

However, the sector experienced a temporary decline in October 2025: harvested area decreased to 0.20 million hectares (-5.06% compared to October 2024), and production declined to 1.24 million tonnes (-7.47%).

Overall, the BPS forecasts Indonesia’s gross corn harvest in 2025 to reach 16.50 million tonnes, 9% higher than in 2024.
