Iran held a tender for the purchase of grain

Iran’s SLAL purchased 180,000 tons of feed corn—exceeding its 120,000-ton target—at €235 (\$278.5) per ton during its Sept. 16 tender, Grain On-Line reports. Barley and soybean meal bids failed. The corn, sourced from multiple possible origins, will ship in Oct.–Nov., with payments routed through Iraqi and Turkish banks.

On September 16, Iran’s State Agency for Livestock Feed Imports (SLAL) held a tender for 120,000 tons of feed corn, 120,000 tons of feed barley, and 120,000 tons of soybean meal, according to the Grain On-Line news agency, citing European traders.

In fact, 180,000 tons of feed corn were purchased (three batches of 60,000 tons each) at a price of 235 euros ($278.5) per ton. The barley and meal purchases were not completed.

According to the tender terms, the corn will be shipped in October-November. It may be of Brazilian, European, Black Sea, Russian, Ukrainian, or Turkish origin. Payment will be made through Iraqi and Turkish banks.
