ISO’s Senior Consultant optimistic on growth of green hydrogen as major source of fuel for automobile sector and electricity sector
Lindsay Jolly, Senior Consultant at ISO, championed hydrogen’s potential at the 64th ISO Council Meeting in Delhi, emphasizing its role in achieving net zero CO2 emissions by 2050. He praised India’s sugar industry for its ability to generate 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually and discussed challenges like cost and infrastructure. The ongoing global ‘ISO Council Meeting’ in New Delhi gathers delegates from 30+ countries to address key issues in the sugar and biofuel sectors, underscoring hydrogen’s pivotal role in future energy landscapes.
Lindsay Jolly, Senior Consultant at ISO, brought his expertise and visionary outlook to the forefront during the discussion on ‘Green Hydrogen: Prospects and Challenges’ at the 64th ISO Council Meeting in Delhi on Tuesday.
He emphasized the potential of hydrogen as an energy source and highlighted the role of the sugar sector in this field. Jolly expressed optimism about the growth of green hydrogen as a major fuel source for the automobile and electricity sectors. He described hydrogen as the versatile tool of the energy industry and a crucial element in achieving net zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
Jolly commended India’s sugar industry for its capability to produce 1 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
He also outlined the challenges facing the demand for clean hydrogen, including cost, storage, transport, distribution, infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks, and proposed strategies to address these challenges.
India is currently hosting the global ‘ISO Council Meeting’ in New Delhi from June 25th to 27th, focusing on the sugar sector. Delegates from more than 30 countries and representatives from various international organizations are participating to discuss critical issues in the sugar and biofuel sectors.
