 Jalandhar : Sugar mill to clear dues of cane farmers

At a meeting led by SDM Phagwara, Golden Sandhar Sugar Mills confirmed Rs 2,144.38 lakh in pending payments to sugarcane farmers for the 2024-25 season. The company assured payments would follow revenue inflows. Farmer leaders stressed urgency, citing hardships. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensure timely disbursement and prevent delays impacting cultivators.

A meeting was convened today at the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Phagwara, to discuss the pending payments to sugarcane farmers by Golden Sandhar Sugar Mills Ltd, GT Road, Phagwara, for the 2024-25 crushing season.

During the meeting, a representative of Golden Sandhar Sugar Mills informed the officials and farmer leaders that an outstanding amount of Rs 2,144.38 lakh was to be paid to the farmers. The representative assured that the dues would be cleared soon, depending on the release of revenue from power generation and sugar sales.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Gaurav Singh, Naib Tehsildar, Phagwara, Mukesh Kumar, AGM, Golden Sandhar Sugar Mills Ltd, Phagwara, Kripal Singh Musapur, president, Bharti Kisan Union (Doaba) and Satnam Singh Sahni, member, Bharti Kisan Union (Doaba).

Farmers’ representatives emphasised the urgency of timely payments, underlining the financial difficulties being faced by cultivators. The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring that farmers get their dues without unnecessary delays.
