Japan buys 112,109 tonnes of food wheat via tender
Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture purchased 112,109 tonnes of food-quality wheat from the United States, Canada, and Australia in its routine tender. As the world’s sixth-largest wheat importer, Japan rigorously manages its wheat imports, crucial for milling and as a staple food alongside rice, with tenders issued approximately three times monthly.
TOKYO, May 28 (Reuters) - Japan's Ministry of Agriculture bought 112,109 tonnes of
food-quality wheat from the United States, Canada and Australia in a regular tender.
Japan, the world's sixth-largest wheat importer, keeps a tight grip on imports of the country's second-most important staple after rice and buys the majority of the grain for milling via tenders typically issued three times a month.
