Jupally for Action on Defaulting Rice Millers Over Custom Rice Telangana


In Nizamabad, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao ordered strict action against 44 rice millers who defaulted on custom-milled rice deliveries, causing government losses of several crores. He demanded a legal report and warned that officials would be held accountable if no action is taken within a month. The district exceeded its paddy procurement target, boosted by a ₹500/quintal bonus.
NIZAMABAD: Excise, Tourism, and Nizamabad district in-charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao has instructed district collectors to take strict action against rice millers involved in defaulting on custom rice milling obligations. He pointed out that around 44 rice millers in Nizamabad district have failed to deliver custom-milled rice to the government, resulting in losses amounting to several crores of rupees. The minister emphasised the need for a detailed report outlining the legal aspects of the issue and called for serious action against the defaulters based on the findings.
A review meeting on paddy procurement, Indiramma houses, agriculture, Bhu Bharati and Rajiv yuva vikasam schemes was conducted here at district offices integrated complex on Thursday. Adviser to the state government Mohammad Ali Shabbir, MLAs Madanmohan Rao, R. Bhupati Reddy, Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, agriculture commission member Gadugu Gangadhar, Urdu academy chairman Taher were present. Minister Jupally Krishna Rao issued a stern warning, stating that strict action must be taken against defaulting rice millers within a month. Failing that, accountability will be fixed on the concerned officials for any delay. He commended the administrations of Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts for their swift efforts in paddy procurement and the sanctioning of Indiramma houses on a war footing. Nizamabad Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu reported that out of the targeted 8 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, 8.21 lakh metric tonnes have already been procured.
Kamareddy collector Ashish Sangvan said that the district had exceeded its paddy procurement target by 30 per cent, with 3.77 lakh metric tonnes procured through 426 paddy purchasing centres. In response, minister Jupally Krishna Rao noted that the ₹500 bonus per quintal announced for paddy had significantly motivated farmers to increase paddy cultivation across the region.
