Kazakhstan’s grain shipments to Azerbaijan triple in 2025

Kazakhstan’s grain shipments via the Temir Zholy rail network surged 31% in 2025 to over 14.3 million tons, with exports up 33% to a decade-high 11 million tons. Strong growth was seen across Central Asia, Iran, Afghanistan, and Baltic and Black Sea routes.

By the end of 2025, the volume of grain transported through the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy network exceeded 14.3 million tons, marking a 31% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Grain exports specifically reached 11 million tons, up 33% year-on-year, the highest level recorded in the past 10 years.

Domestic shipments also grew by 26%, surpassing 3.3 million tons. Significant increases were observed in shipments to Central Asian countries: to Kyrgyzstan — doubled, to Tajikistan — up 12%, and to Uzbekistan — up 32%, totaling 6.3 million tons sent to the region.

Shipments to Azerbaijan tripled, while deliveries to Iran rose by 69% and to Afghanistan by 63%. Exports to the Baltic states increased sixfold, exceeding 800,000 tons, and shipments to Black Sea and Baltic ports grew by 49% and 67%, respectively.
