Kenya: New sugar factory planned for Tinderet


A group of local investors plans to construct the Sh1.5 billion Tinderet Sugar Factory in Nandi County’s Soba location. The facility will have an initial milling capacity of 1,250 tonnes of cane per day, expandable to 2,500 TCD, and will generate 4 MW of captive power. It aims to utilize surplus sugarcane from approximately 10,000 acres in the region, producing about 138 metric tonnes of sugar daily. This development is expected to boost the local economy, create employment opportunities, and enhance sugar production in the area.

Disclosures showed that the investors plan to build the Tinderet Sugar Factory in the Soba location of Tinderet sub-county.
