Kolhapur’s sugar factories decided; 3001 rupees per ton for sugarcane
Kolhapur: In the current year 2023-24 sugarcane coming to the sugar mills for pulverization has been decided to pay Rs 3001 per ton without reduction as per the prevailing practice FRP to Shree Gurudatta Sugars Takliwadi, Sharad Cooperative Sugar Factory Narande, Kallappanna Awade Jawahar Farmers Cooperative Sugar Factory Hupari and Shree Dutt Sugar Cooperative Sugar Factory Hupari. It is reported that the factory has been taken over by the management of four sugar factories in Shirol. At the same time, after the end of the season, the final rate will be given according to the Revenue Sharing Formula (RSF) with the approval of the Commissioner of Sugar, Maharashtra State, Pune.
On the issue of sugarcane price, protests have been going on for the past month on behalf of various organizations in different ways. The farmers’ organizations have taken a stand that they will not allow the sugar factory to start and will not allow sugar to go out of the factory without fixing the price of the previous season and the current season. Even though it has been decided to pay Rs 3564 as per FRP from the factories in nearby Karnataka, after deducting the cost of average cutting and transportation of sugarcane, they will actually get Rs 2900 with government subsidy.
Against this backdrop, the sugar factories of Hatkanangle and Shirol, namely Shree Gurudatta Sugars Takliwadi, Sharad Co-operative Sugar Factory Narande, Kallappanna Awade Jawahar Farmers Co-operative Sugar Factory Hupari and Shree Dutt Farmers Co-operative Sugar Factory Shirol have prepared sugarcane for the current year 2023-24. There is a reliable report that it has been decided to pay a lump sum of Rs. According to RSF, the final rate will be given after the end of the season.
