Lautoka mill will be the first to start sugarcane crushing season in Fiji

The Sugar Industry Tribunal has set the commencement dates for the 2024 sugar cane crushing season in Fiji. According to the announcement reported by Fiji Times, Lautoka mill will kick off operations on June 5, followed by Labasa mills on June 13, and Rarawai mill in Ba on June 19. These dates were finalized in consultation with Fiji Sugar Corporation and Vimal Dutt, CEO of the Sugar Cane Growers Council. Farmers are urged to deliver their sugar cane to the mills a day before crushing begins. The tribunal will assess each mill’s performance and announce the completion dates in September.
