Lucknow News: The process of setting up Chhata Sugar Mill in Mathura and a new ethanol distillery in Gorakhpur is in full swing, the state will soon get the gift

Lucknow: Under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, UP’s sugarcane sector has seen major reforms, including reopening the Chhata sugar mill in Mathura and a new ethanol distillery in Pipraich, Gorakhpur. A record ₹2.80 lakh crore has been paid to farmers in 8 years. The tender process for new projects is near completion, promising economic growth.

Lucknow: During the regime of CM Yogi Adityanath, many important decisions have been taken in the interest of sugarcane farmers, which has not only increased the production of sugarcane and sugar, but the contribution of sugarcane farmers in the economic development of the state has also increased significantly. Under the guidance of CM Yogi, on one hand, the sugar mill in Chhata, Mathura which was closed for years, while on the other hand, the project of a new ethanol distillery in Pipraich, Gorakhpur is going to come into existence.

The process of e-tendering is going on for Chhata Sugar Mill and Pipraich Distillery, construction work will also start soon after its completion. Also, record payment has been made to sugarcane farmers during the 8-year rule of CM Yogi. This year also, 88 percent of the amount due to sugarcane farmers has been paid, the remaining amount will also be paid soon.

  • The tender process for the sugar mill in Mathura and the new distillery in Gorakhpur is in the final stage 

In the 8 years of CM Yogi Adityanath’s rule, many important decisions have been taken for sugarcane production and production of related products in the state. In the budget for the year 2025-26, the establishment of a sugar mill of 3000 TDC capacity in Chhata, Mathura and an ethanol distillery of 120 KPLD in Pipraich, Gorakhpur was announced. Currently the tender process is going on for the construction of both the units.

Construction work will begin as soon as the tender process is completed next month. Sugarcane farmers of the region are excited due to the start of Chhata, Mathura sugar mill which was closed since 2009. The capacity of the sugar mill is being increased from 2000 TDS to 3000 TDS. Along with this, the capacity of the mill can also be expanded to 4900 TDS.

The establishment of the mill is a big gift for the sugarcane farmers of the region. Along with this, Rs 90 crore was sanctioned in the budget for the establishment of an ethanol distillery in the Pipraich sugar mill located in Gorakhpur district. At present, the tender process for the establishment of an ethanol distillery of 120 KPLD capacity is also in the final stage, the construction process will begin as soon as it is completed next month.

  • Sugarcane farmers have received record payments in the last 8 years 

In UP, the Yogi government has paid a record amount of Rs 2.80 lakh crore to sugarcane farmers in the last 8 years. Whereas in the previous governments, sugarcane farmers used to remain worried for ten years for the payment of the amount. Not only this, the previous governments had paid only Rs 66.703 crore to sugarcane farmers in 22 years from 1995 to 2017. This year also, an amount of Rs 475 crore has been approved in the budget for sugarcane farmers. Out of which 88 percent amount has been distributed. The process of completing the payment of the remaining amount is going on soon.

Which will strengthen the economic condition of the sugarcane farmers of the state and will also encourage the production of sugarcane and its related products. CM Yogi had called it a historic work in one of his public meetings in Baghpat. He said that at present sugarcane farmers and sugarcane products are contributing a GVA of Rs 1.09 lakh crore to the economy of the state.
