Maharashtra: Ahilyanagar and Nashik districts Sugar mills crush over 1.10 crore tonnes of sugarcane this season

Sugarcane crushing is ongoing at 26 factories in Ahilyanagar and Nashik, with 1.10 crore tonnes processed so far. The daily crushing rate has slowed to 53,000 tonnes. Sugar recovery rates stand at 8.06% in Ahilyanagar and 9.62% in Nashik. Kranti Sugar Factory leads with 11.43% recovery. Three factories have halted operations due to declining efficiency.

AhilyaNagar: Sugarcane crushing is currently underway at 26 sugar factories in Ahilyanagar and Nashik districts this season. So far, 1.10 crore tonnes of sugarcane have been crushed in the region. However, the daily crushing rate has slowed, with around 53,000 tonnes of sugarcane being processed per day. Three sugar factories have already halted operations, reports Agrowon.

This season, 22 factories in Ahilyanagar and four in Nashik are engaged in sugarcane crushing. The daily crushing capacity stands at 1,11,500 tonnes, with Ahilyanagar contributing 94,750 tonnes and Nashik processing 9,000 tonnes. Currently, around 53 lakh tonnes of sugarcane are crushed daily, yielding nearly 56,000 to 57,000 quintals of sugar.

So far, a total of 1.10 crore tonnes of sugarcane have been crushed in the region, producing over 94 lakh quintals of sugar. The sugar recovery rate remains relatively low. Ahilyanagar has an average sugar recovery rate of 8.06%, while Nashik has a higher rate of 9.62%.

According to the report from the Ahilyanagar Regional Joint Director (Sugar) Office, Kranti Sugar Factory (Parner) in Ahilyanagar has recorded the highest sugar recovery at 11.43%, followed by Agasti Sugar Factory at 11.19% and Karmaveer Shankarrao Kale Cooperative Sugar Factory at 11.08%.
