Maharashtra : Sugar Mill to provide 25 lakh sugarcane saplings to farmers

Sangli: Rajaram Bapu Patil Cooperative Sugar Mill will soon provide 25 lakh sugarcane saplings to farmers to help increase per-acre sugarcane production, according to the mill’s Sugarcane Development Officer, Sujaykumar Patil, who shared this information in Islampur, reports Loksatta.
A training camp was organized by the sugar mill to help educate farmers. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Shyamrao Patil, President of RajaramBapu Cooperative Bank. Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Patil emphasized that various farmer-centric schemes were being implemented through the mill. These include providing organic and bio-fertilizers at subsidized rates and offering soil testing services at reduced prices.
He encouraged farmers to opt for the Khodwa and Nedwa sugarcane varieties, which helped save costs. Proper planning of the Khodwa crop can yield excellent results, he added.
Vithal Patil, President of the Agriculture Committee, provided further details about the mill’s ongoing initiatives for farmers. The event began with a welcome and introductory speech by Director Shailesh Patil, and Yuvraj Patil (Nana) concluded the session with a vote of thanks.
