Malakpur sugar mill to start operations on October 26, Ramala and Baghpat to start on October 29

The Malkapur Sugar Mill in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, is set to begin its sugarcane crushing season on October 26 despite outstanding payments owed to local farmers. Indents for cane deliveries are in progress, and initial cane slips have been distributed to assist farmers. Baghpat and Ramala Sugar Mills will hold an inauguration ceremony on October 29, with crushing expected to start on November 5-6

Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh: The new sugarcane crushing season at Malkapur Sugar Mill is set to begin on October 26, with indents for October 26 and 27 already issued by the mill management, reported Live Hindustan.

In Baghpat and Ramala Sugar Mills, a special inauguration ceremony is scheduled for October 29, after which these mills are expected to start crushing by November 5 or 6, which has farmers excited.

However, Malkapur sugar mill still owes a large amount to local farmers, despite numerous protests and administrative actions aimed at clearing the dues. These include several official interventions and recovery certificates issued against the mill, yet the pending payments remain unsettled. Nevertheless, Malkapur sugar mill is proceeding with the new season while carrying this significant debt.

District Cane Officer Amar Pratap Singh confirmed that Malkapur Sugar Mill will start crushing on October 26, while initial indents are going to the farmers and cane slips have started distributing to help farmers get ready for deliveries.

For the Baghpat and Ramala Cooperative Mills, the season is being launched by an inaugural ceremony that begins with State Minister KP Malik on 29th October. The two mills would then begin the crushing work around 5 and 6 November.

Practical problems in terms of transport of sugarcane for supply to the Baghpat sugar mill are faced as the mill takes sugarcane from places like Pilana, Dhikauli, Aminagar Sarai, and Balaini. Normally, the cane is transported to the mill by trucks and tractors, but this time, a diversion on the Baghpat-Meerut Highway is causing more trouble for the drivers traversing through this route. The alternative route given to these vehicles is very narrow and passes through villages, and thus the accident risks are bound to arise at any moment. The mill management is worried about the rising chances of accidents because of this new route.
