MEDAS EnggDesign Pvt. Ltd. (MEDAS) has secured a major EPC contract from NSL Sugars Ltd. for a 500,000 LPD ethanol distillery at the Jai Mahesh Unit, Beed, Maharashtra. The plant, designed for multiple feedstocks, will feature energy-efficient systems supporting India’s National Biofuel Policy. Execution is already progressing rapidly.
MEDAS EnggDesign Pvt. Ltd. (MEDAS), a leading EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company specializing in distillery, brewery, and food processing solutions, has been awarded a contract by NSL Sugars Ltd., one of India’s top ten sugar producers.
The contract pertains to NSL Sugars’ Jai Mahesh Unit, located in Mazalgaon, District Beed, Maharashtra, where MEDAS will serve as the technology, engineering, and equipment partner for their state-of-the-art distillery project. The plant capacity is 500,000 liters per day based on sugarcane syrup and grains.
The new facility, based on MEDAS’s cutting-edge design, will operate on multiple feedstocks including sugarcane syrup and grains, to produce fuel-grade ethanol as part of the Government of India’s National Biofuel Policy. The distillery will utilize low-pressure distillation system, resulting in higher power generation, along with an energy-efficient evaporation system that uses sugar and dryer vapors for Process. This integrated approach ensures minimal energy consumption and maximum output.
“MEDAS, incorporated in 2018 has already designed, engineered, and commissioned multiple distillery plants across India operating on multiple feedstocks, including grains and sugarcane juice/molasses. Our recent success includes a 423,000 LPD sugarcane juice/Grain based plant in Karnataka and a 125,000 LPD grain based ethanol plant in North India. We are honored that NSL Sugars recognized our capabilities and entrusted us with this high-impact project,” said Mr. Abhay Chaudhari, Managing Director of MEDAS EnggDesign Pvt. Ltd.
