Davangere Sugar Company Ltd. (DSCL) announces the expansion of its distillery with a new 45 KLPD grain-based unit costing Rs.54.00 crores. The expansion will allow year-round operations, benefiting local farmers and creating jobs. DSCL aims to cultivate an additional 15,000 acres of sugarcane, promoting sustainable practices and supporting farmers with financial assistance. Additionally, DSCL will commission a 35 TPD CO2 processing plant to reduce emissions and generate revenue.
Sugar production in India plays a crucial role in the country’s agricultural and industrial landscape. As one of the world’s largest producers and consumers of sugar, India’s sugar industry significantly contributes to the national economy. The sugarcane sector provides livelihood to millions of farmers and supports numerous ancillary industries. Sugar production is predominantly concentrated in states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, where favorable climatic conditions and irrigation facilities prevail. Over the years, the industry has seen advancements in cultivation practices, milling technologies, and by-product utilization, including ethanol and power generation from bagasse.
However, it also faces challenges such as fluctuating prices, water scarcity, and the need for sustainable farming practices. The government’s policies, including fair and remunerative price (FRP) for sugarcane and initiatives for ethanol blending, aim to stabilize and promote growth in this vital sector.

The financial tie-up with banks is completed and about Rs. 2.00 crores is invested in civil works. Negotiations completed with machinery suppliers. It is marking a significant milestone for the company and the local agricultural community. Its intention to expand the distillery will allow the company to now operate independently for 330 days of the year, ensuring a steady and robust production cycle.

Target of achieving additional Sugar Cane growing area by 15,000 acres:
