On July 16, the Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA) announced that applications are now open for the Biofuel Infrastructure Incentive Program. This initiative aims to promote the distribution and use of biofuels across Missouri. Funding will be available to fuel retailers, distributors, terminal companies, or fleet operations that either dispense or plan to store and dispense ethanol blends of E15 or higher, or biodiesel blends of B6 or higher.
Applications must be submitted by October 15, 2024, with notifications for funded projects to be sent by November 29, 2024.
The available funds will be equally divided between biodiesel and ethanol projects. Eligible applicants include businesses that are constructing new infrastructure, retrofitting, or upgrading existing equipment related to biodiesel fuel, biodiesel blends, or ethanol-blended gasoline at facilities in Missouri. Projects can involve multiple locations within the state.
“MASBDA is proud to contribute to increasing biofuel availability in Missouri,” said MASBDA Executive Director Jill Wood. “Investing in biofuels supports Missouri agriculture by boosting demand for soybeans and corn, which are key commodities in our state.”
Funds can be used for a range of expenses, including but not limited to:
– Fuel dispensers/pumps
– Related or attached equipment
– Underground or aboveground storage tanks
– Tank system components
– Other infrastructure in Missouri aimed at ensuring the environmentally safe availability of ethanol or biodiesel blends
“Biodiesel is a renewable, Missouri-made fuel that supports local soybean farmers and offers more options for fuel suppliers and fleets,” said Aaron Porter, Chairman of the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council. “This program is a crucial step in generating new demand and expanding access to biodiesel, which will benefit our state’s economy.”
“This biofuel grant program exemplifies a successful public-private partnership,” added Matt Lambert, Chairman of the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council. “We value the ongoing collaboration with elected officials and MASBDA to enhance pump options, improve air quality, and increase energy security through homegrown renewable fuels.”
