Mitsubishi Power completes 50-MW biomass-fired plant in Japan
Mitsubishi Power, a subsidiary of Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (TYO:7011), has concluded the construction of a 50-MW woody biomass-fired power plant in Miyazaki prefecture.The Hyuga Biomass Power Plant, as it is named, consists of a steam turbine, circulating fluidised bed (CFB) boiler, generator, and other equipment.

The Hyuga Biomass Power Plant, as it is named, consists of a steam turbine, circulating fluidised bed (CFB) boiler, generator, and other equipment.
Developed by a consortium led by MHI, Hyuga Biomass will be operated by a special purpose company (SPC) owned by Osaka Gas Co Ltd, ITOCHU Corporation, Tokyo Century Corporation, and Tokyo Energy & Systems Inc.
The MHI Group plans to continue developing renewable power generation systems, including biomass fuel, Mitsubishi Power noted.
