Moradabad: BKU (Tikait) raises issue of pending sugarcane dues with DM
BKU (Tikait) officials met Moradabad DM regarding pending sugarcane payments by Belwara and Bilari mills, violating 14-day payment rule. DM assures action, summons sugarcane officer. Belwara owes Rs 25.73 crore for 26 days; Bilari owes Rs 64.14 crore for 1.5 months. Notices issued; Belwara expected to pay by May-end. Rani Nangal and Diwan mills in district cleared dues; overall payment status better in Moradabad division.
Moradabad: BKU (Tikait) national secretary Dr Nau Singh and district president Manoj Chaudhary met DM Manvendra Singh on Monday. They raised the issue of pending sugarcane payments to farmers by Belwara and Bilari sugar mills. They alleged that the mills were not following the 14-day payment rule. The DM assured immediate action and called the district sugarcane officer for inquiry. He said that the issue of farmers would be resolved after discussion, reported Amar Ujala.
District sugarcane officer Ram Kishan clarified that Rs 25.73 crore was pending for 26 days at Belwara sugar mill and Rs 64.14 crore for one and a half months at Bilari sugar mill. Notices have been issued to both mills for pending payment. The pending amount of Belwara mill is expected to be received by the end of May.
The two sugar mills of the district, Rani Nangal and Diwan Sugar Mill, have made 100% payment. The payment status of sugar mills in Moradabad district is much better in the division.
