Global sugar prices fell on July 22, with NYBOT raw sugar at 16.28¢/lb and London white sugar at \$472.20/ton. A rise in Brazilian production, driven by dry weather and increased cane crushing for sugar over ethanol, weighed on prices. Ethanol and corn prices showed modest gains amid shifting market dynamics.

October NY world sugar #11 (SBV25) on Tuesday closed down -0.09 (-0.55%), and October London ICE white sugar #5 (SWV25) closed down -2.00 (-0.42%).
Sugar prices added to Monday’s sharp losses on Tuesday, with NY sugar posting a 1.5-week low and London sugar posting a 1-week low. The outlook for higher sugar production in Brazil weighed on sugar prices. Datagro said Monday that dry weather in Brazil has encouraged the country’s sugar mills to increase their cane crushing, diverting more of the cane crush toward more profitable sugar production rather than ethanol.
