MRF targets 300,000-tonne parboiled rice export in FY2025-26

Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) aims to export 300,000 tonnes of parboiled rice in 2025-2026, upgrading 30 processing machines to support this goal. Exports will mainly go to Russia, while Myanmar imports fertilizer and pesticides under a bilateral agreement. In 2024-2025, Myanmar exported two million tonnes of rice, targeting $1 billion in revenue.

Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) targets to export 300,000 tonnes of Myanmar parboiled rice in the financial year 2025-2026.

MRF will endeavour to upgrade 30 parboiled processing machines across the country to convey 300,000 tonnes to foreign markets. MRF will coordinate supply chain stakeholders to achieve this.

Myanmar’s parboiled rice will be primarily delivered to the Russian Federation, while fertilizer and pesticide will be imported, according to a Memorandum of Understanding between Myanmar and Russia.
Myanmar exported about two million tonnes of rice and broken rice to foreign countries in the 2024-2025 FY. The country aims to bag US$1 billion. Myanmar mainly places rice in European markets. Furthermore, premium-quality rice is also exported to China, Indonesia and the Philippines.
