Naraingarh cane farmers hope to get dues with CM Saini’s return

With Nayab Singh Saini returning as Chief Minister of Haryana, sugarcane farmers in Naraingarh are hopeful that the long-pending issues with Naraingarh Sugar Mills, including dues of around Rs 22 crore, will finally be resolved. Saini had previously expressed concerns about delays in farmer payments and promised to establish a cooperative sugar mill if re-elected. However, some farmers suggest focusing on improving management at existing mills. The upcoming crushing season adds urgency to addressing these issues.

With Nayab Singh Saini returning as Chief Minister, sugarcane farmers of Naraingarh are hopeful that the long-standing issues related to Naraingarh Sugar Mills will finally be resolved, and their pending dues will be cleared.

During the Jan Ashirwad Rally in Naraingarh prior to the elections, Saini had expressed concern over the delays in payments to farmers by Naraingarh Sugar Mills Ltd and promised to establish a cooperative sugar mill if re-elected.

Though some farmers have expressed skepticism about the promise of a cooperative mill, they believe that the Chief Minister should focus on improving the management of the existing mills, which have been under government supervision since 2019.

Rajiv Sharma, spokesperson for the BKU (Charuni) said: “The crushing season will begin next month, but around Rs 22 crore in payments from the last season, which ended in March, are still pending. Since the CM is from Naraingarh, we have high hopes that he will address our issues and find a permanent solution.”
