Nashik Agriculture News : Yellow gold will turn black by 1500 crores due to lack of rain! Pachola in the field in the district…
Nashik Agriculture News: The yellow gold which has been sown on the largest area in the district will turn black this year due to rains for more than a month during the period of filling, growth and germination of the maize crop.
Due to strong demand, the same crop, which gives billions of income to the farmers of the district, was sown this year on record; But due to the destruction of maize on lakhs of hectares in the field itself, the production per hectare is estimated to decrease by 25 to 40 quintals.
Due to this, the farmers of the district will have to bear a loss of around fifteen hundred crore rupees. (Farmers will have to bear loss of around 1500 crore rupees in maize nashik agriculture news)
This onion and grape district has now become the largest maize growing district. In the district, 6 lakh 27 thousand hectares of Kharip have been sown, in which maize has been cultivated on an area of 2 lakh 44 thousand hectares. Maize is getting the most preference in ten talukas of the district as it is a low capital, limited labor and high yielding crop.
Despite the change in the crop pattern in the district, the area of millets, pulses and oilseeds has decreased by half, but the area of maize, soybeans, onions and vegetables has taken its place. Especially since most of the area is being invested under maize, there is a better alternative.
Due to the huge increase in poultry and starch industry, the demand for maize has increased, and for both these industries, a large amount of maize is exported in the state and also to Ukraine, Malaysia, Vietnam. Maize prices have reached around Rs 2100 to 2400 due to increased demand.
This year’s loss record?
Due to short rains and the delay of sowing for a month, there has been an increase in the area this year with the hope that the maize crop will come out in the rain. In fact, due to the increase in the price of maize seeds, the farmers have to spend nearly Rs 175 crore to purchase maize seeds in the district at the beginning of the season.
After sowing, the maize crop was sown on the drizzle; But during the period of growth and flowering, there has not been a drop of rain in the last 30 to 40 days, so about 60 to 70 percent of the area in the district has been affected, and the maize in half of the area has been damaged in the field itself. So the supply of maize will not be compared to the demand. In fact, there is a picture that this year the production of maize will decrease and the loss will be a record.
Crores will be hit like this!
Considering the texture of the land in the district, the yield of maize is 40 to 75 quintals per hectare. That means the district average is 50 quintals. According to this calculation , in two lakh 44 thousand 968 hectares sown, an average yield of 50 quintals per hectare would have been obtained and at a price of Rs .
However, at present, due to the rotting of maize in the field itself, the yield of seeds has been reduced. According to experts’ estimates, in the upcoming maize crop, 12 to 20 quintals per hectare means an average production of 15 quintals. Experts say that the income of this product will be around 800 crores only and will be around 1500 crores.
Such is economics…
Maize crop comes in 120 days. Looking at the texture of the land in the district, the yield of maize is 25 to 40 per acre, while the average yield is 33 quintals. Assuming an average price of 2 thousand rupees, an average income of 60 to 70 thousand is obtained from one acre. About 25 to 35 thousand of this is spent; So approximately 30 to 40 thousand rupees remain in the hands of farmers.
“We are not looking at the situation of major crops such as soybeans and maize. Due to the failure of the crops in the field itself, there is a 60 to 70 percent reduction in the yield of both the major crops. Now these crops will be harvested even if the rains come. Farmers will suffer the most damage in this crop. Therefore, compensation for crop damage should be done immediately. Get the amount.” – Ashok Kuldhar, Agronomist, Saigaon
