New ethanol plants to be set up to help sugar mills cut losses

Rohtak: cooperation minister Banwari Lal has said the state government would set up ethanol plants at the cost of Rs 2,000 crores to help all cooperative sugar mills of the state to recover from losses . Apart from this, it is also proposed to set up compressed biogas plants in cooperative sugar mills.

“A 120 KLPD capacity ethanol plant will be set up in Rohtak Cooperative Sugar Mill, to which Meham Cooperative Sugar Mill will also be connected.

Ethanol plant of 68 KLPD capacity has been established in Shahbad Cooperative Sugar Mill,” the minister said. Minister Lal was addressing a gathering after formally inaugurating the 68th crushing session of Rohtak Cooperative Sugar mill located in Bhali Anandpur village. He started the crushing session remotely by worshiping the boiler along with former minister Manish Grover and the mill’s managing director, Major Gayatri Ahlawat.

“The state government has increased the crushing capacity of the cooperative sugar mills of the state, so that every sugarcane of every farmer of the state can be crushed in the state itself. A token system introduced by the mill has helped farmers get their sugarcane weighed in less time,” he added.

The minister also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar have taken many steps for the welfare of farmers.

“The state government is giving the highest prices for sugarcane in the country. The chief minister has announced to increase the price of sugarcane by Rs 14 per quintal, due to which now farmers in the state will get the price of sugarcane at Rs 386 per quintal. Apart from this, the CM has also announced an increase of Rs 14 per quintal for the next year and the price of sugarcane next year will be Rs 400 per quintal,” he added.
