Niger state to get ethanol plant as part of large-scale renewables complex with NNPC


In Nigeria, the This Day newspaper reports that the Nigeria National Petroleum Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Niger State Government to develop an ethanol plant that will be supported by 100,000 hectares of corn, sugarcane, and sweet sorghum. The project makes up a larger macro-scale initiative that will include hydroelectric power, a solar park and solar installations for households. It comes out of a recent green economy summit held by the state government.
