ISLAMABAD: Cooking oil prices have recorded a sharp increase across Pakistan, putting further pressure on domestic consumers already struggling due to rising inflation.
According to market data, the price of cooking oil has increased by up to Rs60 per liter in the past one week, after which its retail price has reached Rs550 per liter.
Shopkeepers say that cooking oil was earlier available for Rs490 per liter, but prices have increased due to shortage in supply.
The recent increase has further increased the financial pressure on consumers, who are already facing rising prices of essential food items.
At the same time, flour prices have also seen an increase, with a 5-kg bag of flour being sold for Rs900, significantly higher than other brands available in the market.
This increase comes in the context of an overall inflationary trend in Pakistan, where rising prices of basic food items are continuously putting pressure on household budgets.
