Pipelines will aid Iowa ethanol industry stay competitive
U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a Republican from Iowa’s 1st Congressional District, voiced her support for carbon dioxide pipelines, emphasizing their importance to Iowa’s ethanol industry while upholding environmental responsibility. During a visit to the Chevron Renewable Energy Group in Newton, along with members of the Conservative Climate Caucus, Miller-Meeks underscored Iowa’s leadership in renewable energy, advocating for market-based solutions to climate issues. She also criticized the Biden administration’s climate policies, particularly EPA regulations on coal, natural gas power plants, and tailpipe emissions.
On Thursday, U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks expressed support for carbon dioxide pipelines as a means to benefit Iowa’s ethanol production industry while maintaining environmental responsibility.
Miller-Meeks, who represents Iowa’s 1st Congressional District as a Republican, discussed the role of pipelines and other renewable fuel initiatives endorsed by the Conservative Climate Caucus. Along with fellow caucus members Republican Representatives Randy Weber from Texas, Doug Lamborn from Colorado, and Brett Guthrie from Kentucky, she visited the Chevron Renewable Energy Group in Newton. This visit was part of a broader trip to Iowa aimed at promoting affordable, low-emission energy solutions.
After touring the biodiesel production facility, Miller-Meeks highlighted Iowa’s leadership in implementing a conservative approach to climate-friendly energy through renewable fuels, wind, and solar energy.
The Conservative Climate Caucus is focused on exploring methods to advance new climate-friendly technologies and practices. However, according to Miller-Meeks, Republicans advocate for “market-based solutions” rather than government mandates. She criticized the Biden administration’s climate change policies, particularly the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulations concerning coal and natural gas power plants and tailpipe emissions.
