Rajasthan to Unveil Clean Energy Policy 2024..
Rajasthan will launch its Clean Energy Policy 2024, focusing on energy self-reliance and renewable development like solar, wind, green hydrogen, and battery storage. MoUs worth ₹6.57 lakh crore aim to create 70,000 jobs. Highlighting vast solar and wind potential, the state seeks to become an energy hub, meeting regional and global demands.
Rajasthan is set to launch its Clean Energy Policy 2024, aimed at making the state self-reliant in energy production and addressing the power needs of neighboring regions. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma unveiled the plan emphasizing the policy’s focus on both non-renewable sources and the development of emerging renewable energy segments. In his address at the pre-summit of the Rising Rajasthan global investment meet, Sharma highlighted that the new policy would introduce several incentives across various energy sectors, including pump storage, green hydrogen, battery storage, bioenergy, and more. The chief minister reiterated that Rajasthan’s goal is to not only meet its internal power demand but also become a key energy supplier to other states and even countries in the region.
Major Investment Proposals At the pre-summit, Rajasthan signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for investments totaling Rs 6.57 lakh crore, with energy sector investors pledging to set up projects across solar, wind, green hydrogen, hybrid, pump storage, and battery storage sectors. Sharma stated that these investments will create approximately 70,000 new jobs in the state, fueling both the economy and the clean energy transition. Solar and Wind Energy Potential Sharma also showcased Rajasthan’s immense potential for renewable energy, particularly in solar and wind sectors. The state is home to the world’s largest solar park, with a capacity of 2,245 MW, and enjoys over 325 days of sunshine annually, providing an ideal environment for solar power generation. With vast stretches of land suitable for wind energy projects, Rajasthan is positioning itself as a leader in the renewable energy space. “We are aiming to make Rajasthan an energy-surplus state that not only meets the demand of the state but also meets the demands of other states and countries in the region,” Sharma said. Commitment to Expedited Implementation State Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar assured that the government is committed to swiftly implementing these investment projects.
He emphasized that the state would provide comprehensive monitoring and support to investors, ensuring the effective realization of the MoUs signed during the summit. The Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024, scheduled for December 9-11 in Jaipur, is expected to be a key platform for further attracting investment, innovation, and partnerships in the state’s energy and other sectors. This ambitious move reflects Rajasthan’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and its vision of becoming a self-sufficient energy hub in India and beyond.
