Hyderabad:The Raw Rice Millers Welfare Association of Telangana which claims to represent 1,800 mills has sought early clearance of the custom milling charges and payment of transportation charges for delivery of custom milled rice to the Food Corporation of India (FCI). They said orders for payment of transportation charges to millers in respect of raw rice delivered to the Telangana Civil Supplies Corporation (TCSC) have not been issued for payment of transportation charges to millers in respect of raw rice delivered.
Explaining that the new association was formed to represent the woes of raw rice millers, association president Padi Ganapathi Reddy said, “The previous union is not representing the interests of raw rice millers. Our problems are different from the other mills. We had to incur additional expenses to mix kernels and buying sortex machines to supply clean rice sans impurities. The electricity charges for milling a quintal of paddy is still Rs 10 and has not been revised from 2015 while AP is paying Rs 130 now. We are finding it difficult to supply 67 kgs of rice for 100 kgs of paddy supplied for custom milling to us as there is more broken rice. The corporation should conduct test milling and decide on this.”
