In honor of Veterans Day, a special fuel promotion will give local drivers access to a deep fuel discount on two popular ethanol fuel blends, sponsored by Kansas Corn and Veterans for Renewable Fuels, an initiative of the Missouri-based Renewable Fuels Association.

All drivers, veterans or not, can fill up from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Nov. 11, at the Casey’s at 13406 W 151st St. in Olathe, Kansas, for the special price of $2.15 per gallon for Unleaded88/E15 fuel and $0.85 per gallon for E85. As an additional benefit, veterans, active-duty service members and those serving in the reserves or National Guard will receive a $20 Casey’s gift card from event sponsors RFA and Kansas Corn, while supplies last. Veterans can also enjoy a free any size coffee or fountain drink from Casey’s, with proof of service. Exclusions may apply.

Unleaded88/E15 is fully approved for use in cars, SUVs, pickups, vans, or other light-duty vehicles that were manufactured after the year 2000. That means more than 96 percent of vehicles on the road today are legally approved to use the blend. E85 is a fuel blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. E85 has been in the marketplace for three decades. Flex fuel vehicles, also known as FFVs, can use any fuel ranging up to 85 percent ethanol. There are more than 22 million FFVs on the road in the United States.

“We’re happy to be able to work with Kansas Corn and Casey’s to help drivers understand the value of lower-cost, lower-carbon ethanol while also honoring the men and women who help keep our country free,” said RFA Senior Vice President for Industry Relations and Market Development Robert White, himself an Army veteran. “The ethanol industry is proud of the many veterans who are a large part of our workforce, and partnering with corn growers and a terrific retailer like Casey’s really adds to the value of this event on such a holiday as Veterans Day.”

The event honors veterans and celebrates ethanol, an American-made clean air fuel, according to Kansas Corn CEO Josh Roe. “A high percentage of those who serve in the military are from our rural farm communities,” Roe said. “This is an opportunity to spread the word about the low cost, high performance benefits of domestically-produced ethanol fuels while honoring veterans who have served our country.”

Veterans for Renewable Fuels is a special project of the Renewable Fuels Association to recognize the tremendous contribution of military veterans in the U.S. ethanol industry and provide these American heroes opportunities to come together and support each other in their careers and personal lives.
