RLD to hand over memorandum to UP CM demanding release of sugarcane dues
LUCKNOW: The Jayant Chaudhary led RLD will on Thursday send memorandums to CM Yogi Adityanath demanding payment of dues to the cane growers in the state.
RLD spokesperson Anil Dubey said that the party will hand over the memorandum to district authorities across the state. “The party will stage demonstrations if adequate steps are not taken to address the concern of cane growers,” he said.
Recently, a host of RLD MLAs had met CM Yogi demanding timely payment of cane price to the farmers.
Dubey said that sugarcane is the focal point of livelihood of not only farmers and laborers but also traders in UP.
“Thousands of crores are yet to be paid to the farmers. They have reached the brink of starvation and are victims of mental depression,” Dubey said. During the monsoon session of UP assembly the state government submitted that more than Rs 5,000 crore are yet to be paid to the farmers for the 2022-23 crushing season.

Dubey said that the party would demand appropriate action against the erring sugar mills and paying of the outstanding sugarcane price with interest without delay.
