Rs 2Kcr paid to 1.7L wheat farmers in UP


Uttar Pradesh has procured 9.26 lakh metric tonnes of wheat from over 1.73 lakh farmers so far this Rabi season, surpassing last year’s 6.88 lakh tonnes. With Rs 2,045 crore disbursed, farmers are receiving prompt payments at the MSP of Rs 2,425/quintal. The state aims to set new records through tech-enabled transparency and inclusive procurement.
Lucknow: State govt procured 9.26 lakh metric tonnes wheat from over 1.73 lakh farmers through 5,852 purchase centres, marking significant jump from the 6.88 lakh metric tonnes procured in the same period last year.The procurement drive, a govt spokesperson said, provided direct financial benefit to 173,381 farmers out of 446,725 registered for the season, with over Rs 2,045 crore already disbursed to their bank
accounts.
Minimum Support Price for wheat was fixed at Rs 2,425 per quintal for the 2025–26 Rabi season, ensuring farmers were compensated fairly and promptly.
Wheat Procurement campaign for Rabi marketing season began on Mar 17 and will continue till Jun 15. The spokesperson said real-time tracking, enhanced transparency and accountability through tech-enabled systems enabled smooth operations across all regions. State administration continues to work on increasing daily procurement rates to ensure that no eligible farmer is left out. “With procurement season ongoing, UP not only looks to set new records but also cement its position as a leader in Agriculture Procurement, efficient public distribution, and rural economic empowerment,” the spokesperson said.
