Rtd judge begins inquiry into Bhagyalaxmi sugar factory scam
Belagavi: The government-appointed inquiry committee led by retired judge SB Vastradmath commenced an investigation into the alleged Rs 600 crore corruption in the Bhagyalaxmi sugar factory located in Khanapur taluk, owned by BJP MLA Vitthal Halagekar.
The inquiry has been ordered based on the former MLA Anjali Nimbalkar’s complaint. Anjali in her complaint stated that the farmers’ money and trust are continuously abused by the factory management promoted by the MLA Halagekar.
The special inquiry officer conducted the inquiry of the factory management from 11am to 2pm.
Later, speaking to the media persons, Vastradmath said: “I have commenced the investigation as per the government order. The factory management is cooperating with the investigation and providing all the required documents.”
Further, he said the government has asked to submit a report within 30 days. tnn
