Russia significantly increases corn exports to Turkey
Russian corn exports to Turkey surged, reaching 550,000 tons since September—up 54% year-on-year. Shipments in early 2026 jumped sevenfold, driven by strong demand from Turkey’s poultry and feed sectors. Despite rising imports from Russia, Turkey’s overall corn imports have declined, reflecting shifting sourcing patterns and active government tenders.
From September 2025 to March 20 this year, Russian exporters shipped about 550.000 tons of corn to Turkey, which is nearly 54% more than in the same period last year. Shipments continue to grow. In particular, from January 2026 to March 20 alone, about 360.000 tons were shipped from Russia to Turkey, which is seven times more than in the same period last year, the federal center Agroexport under the Russian Agriculture Ministry reported.
“The key driver of interest in Russian corn, as well as barley, is steady demand from Turkey – primarily from the poultry sector and feed producers. Demand from the livestock sector is reflected in high tender activity,” the center’s analysts said.
It is also reported that since the beginning of 2026, Turkey’s Grain Board (TMO) has already purchased 630.000 tons of feed corn (under the latest tender dated March 16, 280.000 tons of feed corn were contracted for delivery in the second half of March-April).
According to Turkey’s national customs data, from the beginning of the season through January 2026, total corn imports (excluding seed corn) declined to 1.3 mln tons from 1.9 mln tons in the same period last year.
