Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Amid growing concerns over delays in sugarcane payment to farmers, the district administration has taken a tough stand against sugar mills. In a meeting held at the Collectorate auditorium, Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) S.K. Patel summoned officials from the sugarcane department as well as representatives from four private mills and expressed strong displeasure over the non-payment of dues.

ADM Patel firmly stated that withholding the income of farmers is a matter of concern and cannot be allowed under any circumstances. He expressed disappointment at the mills for failing to honor their payment commitments and made it clear that such lapses would not be tolerated.

He warned that if payments are not made as per the timeline, FIRs will be lodged against the mill managements under applicable legal provisions, reported local media Royal Bulletin.

The administration also made it clear that if the mills fail to make timely payments, then it will consider reallocating the sugarcane to other mills. ADM Patel emphasized that the state government is fully committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers and that no negligence will be tolerated at any level.

The meeting was attended by District Cane Officer Sushil Kumar along with representatives of the four sugar mills.
