Saudi Arabia’s grain output hits 1.65M tons in 2024
Saudi Arabia’s grain production totaled 1.65 million tons in 2024, slightly below last year. Wheat dominated output, while Al Jouf led regional production. Organic agriculture reached 98,250 tons, driven mainly by perennial trees. Agricultural imports hit 18.76 million tons, mostly grains, while exports totaled 505,590 tons, led by fruits.
Production of grain crops in the Kingdom amounted to 1.65 million tons in 2024, compared to 1.75 million tons a year earlier, the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) revealed in its recently issued report on agricultural statistics.
According to the report, the total area planted with grain crops in 2024 amounted to about 304,450 hectares, of which the harvested area was about 302,970 hectares.
The wheat crop topped the list with 72% of the total area planted with grains, with a production volume of 1.19 million tons.

Al Jouf led the list by region in grain crop production with about 331,530 tons, as the cultivated area in the province amounted to about 45,670 hectares.
Riyadh came in second, with a production volume of about 278,540 tons, and a cultivated area of nearly 48,160 hectares.

Statistics showed that the total production of organic agriculture for crops in the Kingdom amounted to about 95,3000 tons in 2024, and perennial trees accounted for 70.9% of the total production.
Meanwhile, the total area of organic agriculture amounted to about 23,4000 hectares in 2024, the area of organic agriculture for perennial trees (except dates) came in first place, amounting to 11,500 hectares, or 52%.

The bulletin also showed that the total quantity of agricultural imports to the Kingdom amounted to 18.76 million tons in 2024, with grains accounting for the largest share at 72% of total imports.
The total quantity of agricultural exports amounted to about 505,590 tons, with exports of fruits and others accounting for 72% of total exports.
