SEA’s pre-Budget memorandum seeks policy interventions to protect domestic edible oil sector
The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India has urged Budget 2026–27 policy support for oilseeds and edible oils, seeking measures to boost farmer income, promote domestic processing and value addition, ensure tax and trade neutrality, and reduce import dependence, strengthening food security and sector self-reliance.
The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) has sought policy interventions in the forthcoming Budget to protect domestic edible oil and allied sectors.
SEA’s pre-Budget memorandum to the government said the stakeholders in the oilseed, edible oil, oilmeal, and oleochemical value chains look to the forthcoming Budget for measures that strengthen farmer realisation, encourage domestic processing and value addition, ensure tax and trade neutrality, and reduce import dependence.
Sanjeev Asthana, President of SEA, said the Budget 2026-27 is a critical opportunity to support India’s agriculture and edible oil sector, which plays a central role in ensuring food security, farmer livelihoods, and the nation’s self-reliance in essential commodities.
