SEB nabs PDS rice smugglers

Vijayawada: The SEB officials busted a gang of smuggling PDS rice to other districts with fake bills and seized about 160 bags of PDS rice along with a vehicle.
Acting upon a tip off, police conducted vehicle check at a toll plaza between Gudur and Nellore town. They found a mini lorry carrying rice bags weighing about 50kg and questioned the driver. He showed them the bills in the name of a trader. Police found that the bills were fake. They also found that the trader was buying the PDS rice for 10/kg and selling them to district rice mills for 15/kg. A case has been filed and investigation is on.TNN
